[Review] W - Two Worlds Episode 16 (End)
It's pretty an unwise choice to choose livestreaming for a finale, and I could probably flip and die when I saw the loading button twirl at the crucial last ten minutes. I mean, NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME!!! All the butterflies in my stomach drop dead instantly. And when we're back with moving graphics, credits are rolling. MEH.
Thankfully we have superb uploaders as my saving grace, and I was able to fill in the gaps in less than half an hour's time after the show ended. Time for review!
The prophecy doesn't change and only one could outlive the other at the end of the day. Kang Chul clutches his gunshot wound as he slips into unconsciousness, with Yeon Joo tearing helplessly at the other side of the road. The chyron signalling the end of the final chapter appears, and here comes the WHITE truck of doom floored in between them. Next second, Yeon Joo is transported back to reality. Holy Crap!
We become as glum as Yeon Joo, who moves like a zombie and wallows in her pool of tears for the rest of the days. On contrary to her words back in the doorless/windowless house, she has now lost both Kang Chul and Dad, the worst scenario anybody could have thought of. Much to her (and our) oblivion, Dad has turned the table and inserted a twist to the story - by putting a bullet through Han Cheol Ho's head and exchanging himself for Kang Chul's life. Technically speaking, he buried himself dead in his own work. Such artist pride and soul. Hmm.
Kang Chul reappears back in the real world and reunites with Yeon Joo. Their love story continues, with the only difference that is, it'll no longer be recorded as a manhwa and they could finally date like how other normal couples do. Kisses and swoons, and then, the real The End.
Oh wells. The first thought that came to my mind was - Poor mom. After such avalanche of events happening around her, can you imagine she's the only person being kept in the dark? Not a single soul is kind enough to drop her a word that her (ex)husband has vaporised into thin air. I don't know, it's kind of cruel, especially when even the comic assistant knows what's going on lately. Updates yoz.
Maybe it's me watching raw but did the show ever mention how Kang Chul yaw his way back to the real world? Given that the manhwa has ended, given that he has freed himself from the knuckles of a 'main' character, how on earth does he manage to cross the digital borders to the real world? And I wonder how he'd age in the real world - maybe another Edward Pattinson ready to scare the wits out of everybody after a century. Hah.
It has been a pleasant ride albeit the many loopholes and unexplained rules of teleport, I wouldn't criticise the drama to be downright disappointing but then plot wise, it could've been better? Put logic sense aside then it'll be a great action romance, sprinkled with lots of horror that you may want to prep yourself first. Now, raise both your hands, with the rock on hand sign we scream, W! Goodbye, you're well loved.
