[Review] Madame Antoine Episode 13 - 16 (End)
Time to activate my fast-forwarding skill to end this agony fast. For all I know, we are tugged in between the same old pretence for a good fifteen episodes, before hailing a finale that finally addresses the main protagonist's psychological problem (Gramps, should've done it earlier and you wouldn't have lost these much points, Show).
Soohyun's world falls apart when Hyerim decides to leave him, and he caves in that perhaps after all, he is the key reason to why people choose to abandon him, one by one. Here comes a double blow when Mom turns up from nowhere to beg for his forgiveness, yet claims that she has no recollection of the fateful day that has scarred his heart and childhood so much. So sad, to think that he has been clinging onto a memory that no one actually shares with.
We eventually see things resolved by having Hyerim back to heal his psychological trauma and patching up with him, which makes the previous fifteen episodes seem pretty much of a joke and the love experiment a redundant conflict point. Granted, we need the experiment to demonstrate Soohyun's change in attitude towards love, but I would've rather more episodes were dedicated to execute his dilemmas and struggles, and how he finally rejects his hypothesis to realise that love does exist in this world. That would've kept the story in shape and things going.
All in all, a drama that is run-of-the-mill. Expecting more from Sung Joon, to a better drama!
