[Review] Marry Me, Or Not? 必娶女人 Episode 15 (End)

Always hard to send a favourite show off.

No doubt Marry Me Or Not has flaws that deny it the title of a superb drama, but for some inexplicable reason, I am very attracted to it. It might be that I adore the pairing very much, or simply because Roy Qiu is too charming to resist (or well, maybe both), each episode keeps me invested in their relationship and I love to progress with their thoughts and actions (though I do agree that some conflicts were so frivolous to begin with). The show ditches hot-headed youth romance for a more mature love topic, and explores insecurities about marriages that could happen to all ages and gender. Love may subside with time, but bear in mind that it will not disappear. If only we bother to pay a little more attention to the things around us, we can actually find snippets of love hidden in traces of our daily lives, in people hovering around us. All that concerns behind bickers and tears, that's love brimming if you hadn't noticed.

Acting of the veteran duo has nothing to be picked on - I watched with a heavy heart when the couple broke up and Hao Meng, all teary eyes, returned to Busan alone to retrace their trip together. Even more poignant when he made a call to Huanzhen, asking her what would've happened if their paths had not crossed in the first place. That was so heartbreaking.

Of course, as the drama title suggests (and expected by everyone), we will have a merry ending. I'm not going to criticise how draggy the marriage proposal is, but at least everything ends on a happy note and I could have a good closure on this drama without leaving any regrets. Thanks for accompanying me on these gloomy days, let's hope we can have more of Roy Qiu and his works on the coming months/years.
