First Documentary - The Invisibles

Good things are meant to be shared, so I decided to post this.

The definition of hyperventilation. I nearly snapped out of consciousness after seeing Hyunbin here gah. Wet hair. See-through wet shirt. STOP! I'm sucked into it NOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Ok what was actually intended for this post was my group's documentary, so let's get back on track.

The Invisibles
My team and I were basically first timers in film-making. We knew nothing from filming to editing. This is my first time behind a camera, being in front of a camera. Nothing was scripted. Yep, I didn't plan to be in it and we had to play it by ear all the time hence the stutters and stammers. Though the documentary certainly had room for improvement, I'm nevertheless proud of what we had given our lack of experiences and time constraints. Thank you Cheong Pokes Pokytan for interviewing Mr Lee and Abigail Gammell and Xinyi for all your hard work! It was a pleasure working with all of you guys (:

'The Invisibles' revolves around the story of Uncle Lee Tin Meng, who works as a cleaner in NUS and is responsible of the cleanliness at Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Block AS3. Uncle Lee represents the often neglected group of people in NUS, who despite their contributions, do not receive deserving acknowledgement but instead at times, are embarrassed or disrespected by students. In a top educational institution where individuals are supposedly 'highly-educated', isn't it necessary to scrutinise what has gone wrong in our moral education system? On the same note, has the notion of elderly being treasures been eroded as we slowly start to disregard these pioneers, who in fact are the ones that have constructed the comfortable zone for us to live in (or in this aspect, study in)? Time to reflect, people.

'The Invisibles' will be the final piece of work that concludes my university life. Glad that it has been well received by many, and it is equally rewarding to see our initial idea take shape and eventually take flight. Perhaps a meaningful project that will have me still remember it in years to come. With that, thank you university, You have been awesome.
