Wrapping Up Second Last Semester
Results are out, and I basically have nothing to fear for the coming last semester. If I score all As, my cap will rise to 3.97; If I score all Cs, my cap will drop to 3.53. Which means it's time to face reality and bid farewell to my second upper. T.T Well, aside from brooding over the fact that my graduation certificate will be stamped with a second lower, I'm actually thankful that I'd fared pretty well this semester. Scored the highest CAP (4.16) in history when I have 3 level 4000 modules! HAHA. At least my worst fear wasn't realised - I BROKE THE RECORD OF NOT SCORING A B- IN A SEMESTER!!! *Note: my record breaking was last semester, with 3 B- wo de tian ah. The main culprit that pulls my whole cap down. Must give myself a pat on the shoulders, I deserve some. *sob*
A closer look at the individual modules.
1) NM4211 - Online Journalism
Honestly this module content wasn't up to my expectations. As the name suggests, it should have been something to do with managing news content in the 'online' manner, however there isn't much difference to it from the sister module NM3211 (News reporting and editing). Recommended for those who love to write articles.
2) NM4881A - Topic Studies in Social Media
Take this if you want to skip all lectures. No exams, no attendance, nothing. I was dumb enough to attend 80% of the classes when the content taught ain't be tested any way. GAH. Presentation results are subjected to the lecturer's liking, so either a boom or bust.
3) NM4102 - Advanced Communications and New Media Research
Unfortunately this is a compulsory module that all CNM students have to take. Many told me I should have taken this under Julian (to ensure an A), but I find it equally rewarding to learn it from Zhang Weiyu. The exam was the killer because we had to cram and apply almost all research method process in the 2-hour test. Note that my partner and I spent a few weeks to simply code the transcripts.
4) GEK 1900 - Public Health in Action
I took it because I have too many points to spare (Gah and the bid point was merely 50). Not that I scored low for this, but I S/U it cos' I have too many S/U to spare. Not hard, but you can't skip lectures, which is bad.
So these are the fruits of not randomly choosing modules. But I guess it doesn't matter anymore, shall choose to my heart's content since I'm confident enough I won't score a C anyway. Time to play!
New drama in the house - Pride and Prejudice~! I'm still at the second episode, will give a review soon!
